Marc Gingras is the CEO of Bloks. But, as long as I’ve known him, he’s never been a big fan of that job title.

He thinks of himself as more of a coach, guiding a team of all-stars to achieve and accomplish something greater than themselves.

Fun fact: Marc actually coached his alma mater’s basketball team for nearly ten years after graduating.

And, much like Phil Jackson, coach of his beloved 1989–1998 Chicago Bulls (and the subject of his favourite Netflix docuseries, The Last Dance), Marc has more than a few wins under his belt and first-hand experiences that could fill a book.

It’s fitting, then, that Marc recently sat down with Brandon White—serial entrepreneur, former VC, and host of the EDGE podcast—to share a few stories from his life and lessons learned managing world-class startups.

Each week, Brandon White speaks with successful entrepreneurs, Emmy Award winners, scientists, authors, venture capitalists, angel investors, athletes, and more, about the habits, strategies, and perspectives that have helped shape their careers and given them a winning edge in their chosen field.

During their recent sit-down, Marc discussed his 25+ years in tech, his experience leading three startups to successful exits, being acquired by (and managing a team at) BlackBerry, the importance of alignment, and building a better note-taking app with Bloks.
