Bloks Raises $1.75M in Pre-Seed Funding for New App
Bloks plans to use funds to scale the adoption of its next-generation AI notes app, which helps professionals feel less scattered by intelligently capturing, organizing, and surfacing everything they need to know and do.

OTTAWA, Oct. 26, 2022 – Nook Technologies, Inc., the team behind Tungle.me (the “OG business calendar app” and Calendly precursor, acquired by BlackBerry in 2011) and Foko (the “Instagram for business,” acquired by WorkForce in 2021), today announced that it had raised US $1.75 million in pre-seed funding ahead of the release of its new AI-powered productivity app, Bloks. The self-described personal knowledge base that’s “more than a note-taking app” is accepting users as part of a private beta ahead of its official launch.
The round was led by Code Cubitt, managing director at Mistral Venture Partners, and additional angel investors in the Silicon Valley and Canadian tech community, including Renegade Ventures (Bessemer scout fund), Louis Kearns and Mohammad Hashemi (former GMs at Shopify), Sébastien Marineau (VP of Software at Apple), Scott Roberts (VP and Head of Business Development at LinkedIn), Jeff Bonforte (Managing Partner at Catapult Capital), Mike Potter (co-founder and CEO of Rewind), and Marc Gingras (CEO of Nook Technologies, Inc.)
“The Bloks team has a proven track record of creating apps that simplify work and make people more productive,” said CEO Marc Gingras. “In a time when startups of a similar size and stature are struggling to secure capital, this funding round represents a huge vote of confidence from our investors. We’re excited to continue building an app that not only helps users capture their thoughts in the moment but provides clarity by organizing all their important information, so they feel less scattered and know what they need to do and remember.”
